Aloe Blacc hails from Orange Country, CA. A soul singer with RnB and hip hop tendencies. This guys voice is “like buttah.”
His most recent release “Good Things” draws from his vast musical background. The first track “I Need A Dollar” is one mans take on what it takes to make it in America. It’s dark, soulful and true.
His voice is pure and easy to listen to. He has taken LA by storm and is now currently in Europe promoting his newest release. This record is for those who like the soulful sounds of the 60′s and 70′s and have a tendency to listen to Marvin Gaye rather than Sly and the Family Stone. The ever popular theme of love and love lost is all over this record and there is some political stuff as well. His airy falsettos and soulful voice backed by a fresh take on classic RnB is refreshing to listen to.
Two of my favorite tracks using these themes are the title track “Good Things” which is a poppy breakup tune and “Mama Hold My Hand” which is Blacc’s way of expressing his fears of being on his own.

Blacc is a refreshing artist and his most recent release “Good Things” is just that, a “good thing” for the LA music scene and beyond.
Check him out here on facebook and here for his personal site and here for his indie label, Stones Throw.
